Information for International applicants

A pass at Intermediate Matriculation Level in Computing or Information Technology, and a pass at Advanced Matriculation Level in Accounting.

Applicants who are not in possession of a pass at Intermediate Matriculation Level in Computing or Information Technology at the time of applying for the Course but are in possession of another qualification in Computing or IT that is deemed relevant by the Boards, or of one Intermediate Matriculation Level subject at grade C or better in Applied Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics or Pure Mathematics, may also be considered.

Applicants who are not in possession of a pass at Advanced Matriculation Level in Accounting at the time of applying for the Course but are in possession of another qualification in Accounting that is deemed to be relevant by the Boards, or of two Advanced Matriculation Level subjects at grade C or better, may also be considered.

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Accountancy and Information Systems is an interfaculty programme of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy and the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology at the University of Malta. The B.Sc. (Hons) in Accountancy and Information Systems is an interdisciplinary program designed to equip students with a robust foundation in both accounting principles and information technology skills. This program covers a diverse range of study units, including programming in Python, which introduces students to coding and problem-solving techniques; software development methods, focusing on the lifecycle of software creation and management; specialised accounting, which delves into advanced accounting practices and principles; and auditing, providing an in-depth understanding of audit processes and standards. This unique combination of subjects prepares graduates to adeptly navigate and integrate the fields of accountancy and information systems, making them highly valuable in today’s technology-driven business environments.

Communication and Academic Skills Programme

The communication and academic skills programme complements students’ main course of study. It introduces them to writing and presenting as situated within academic contexts sensitive to specific disciplines and develops their competences for future careers.

This programme of study is governed by the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2019 and by the Bye-Laws for the award of the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Accountancy and Information Systems - B.Sc. (Hons) - under the auspices of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy.
